Org-Level Custom Brief Templates

WorkBoard briefs have always supported built-in formats like bullet points and narrative. Custom Brief Templates let your org go further β€” admins can define reusable brief templates tailored to how your team presents data, and users can select them whenever they generate a brief.

For Admins: Setting Up Custom Templates

You'll need the IT Policy role to access this feature.

Access the AI Template Manager

  1. Go to Admin Tools

  2. Select AI Template Manager

You'll see a list of your org's templates with their current status (Published or Draft).

Create a Template

  1. Click + Add Template

  2. Enter a template name and a prompt describing the format (e.g. "Provide an executive summary under 100 words. Focus on the most important things. Use emojis.")

  3. Choose Publish to make it available to users, or Save as Draft to continue editing later

You cannot publish a template with an empty name or prompt.

Editing and deleting a template

Open any template and make your changes, then re-publish. Updates take effect on future briefs β€” previously generated briefs are not affected.

Select Delete from the kebab menu and confirm. The template is permanently removed, and any scheduled briefs using it revert to the system default format.

For Users: Selecting a Template

When generating a brief on a supported surface, open the brief format menu (via the customize settings or the Scheduled Briefs modal). Your org's published templates will appear alongside the built-in options.

Supported surfaces:

  • Scorecard

  • Business Review

  • My Objectives

  • Teams

Select a template and generate β€” the output will follow the format your admin defined.

Notes

  • Only published templates are visible to end users

  • Editing an existing template affects future briefs only; past briefs are unchanged

  • Deleting or drafting a template reverts scheduled briefs to the system default
